Antique beaded wrist cuffs for dance gear - Plateau region circa late 19th century

Handcrafted on a muslin base then finished with a lush deep purple velvet accented with bead-work flowers, cuffs such as these were common to the dancers and attendees at the pow-wows and gatherings in the region.

Floral motifs were always well respected and often recreated by the early Native peoples due to their representation of spring renewal, their abundance and their beauty. Flowers were/are thought of a "gifts" to the people from the Creator.

This pair of 19th century cuffs measures approximately 9+ inches long and 3+ inches wide. The cuff are missing the original tie-downs along the edges but are in good condition overall.

Perfect for display , these cuffs are a genuine artifact from the great Plateau region of 19th century Native America.
