Vintage Navajo crafted turquoise and shell necklace circa 1970's / 1980's

Highlighting a gorgeous gem grade turquoise as the focal point this vintage nugget necklace is a perfect example of the beauty of the "first peoples" jewelry. Following in the traditions of jewelry from the early Native people of the southwest this necklace was crafted to honor the value of turquoise.

Often, turquoise was and still is worn to bring balance and harmony. Additionally, early Native history tells that turquoise was also traded as a currency and would be a signal of the status of the wearer/owner. Turquoise equaled wealth and well-being.

This turquoise necklace measures approximately 3/4 of an inch for the largest nugget and is set to fit a 16 inch neckline. ***This necklace can be professionally extended if needed.

A truly lovely hue of gem-grade turquoise!
